Number 8 keeps turning to 7

I have a user with a very interesting problem on his pc.
Everytime he tries to type an 8, it turns into a seven.
You can see the 8 on the screen, but it immidietly turns
into a 7. The computer does allow you to type 8 with
other characters. Even 08 will work in Excel, but when
you leave the 8 by itself it turns into a 7. This seems
to be happening only office programs. A simple text file
allows the 8 to be displayed. I also logged onto the PC
with another username. Everything seems to work fine
then. It is only with this users profile that the
problem occurs. Any ideas?
