number format in mergefield when generating labels

I need to generate labels using a mergefield that is a
number with padded 0's to 6 places (i.e. '000123' and I
get '123'). is there a way to pad my numbers?

You need a picture switch on the field eg
{Mergefield Fieldname \# "000000" }
