number formatiing

I have a large database of numbers with following format in a column,
example: 0500-08900-0200-001045 and in order to put these numbers into
another program that will gnerate a new value, I need to change the format of
the number to the following: 0500089000200001045*
So i haveto get rid of the dashes and put an asterisk at the end.
I have tried "replace" - with ( blank) and it keeps changing the resulting
numbers format to a scientific number that does not have same numerals even
when i move out decimal places.

Please help me to format this number so I dont have to actually retype in
thousands of numbers!!! :)
