Number Formats not coming through in Merge

I am merging a shell document in word with an excel
worksheet that contains numbers. The cells are formatted
in the worksheet to show decimals. However, when the
merge is complete the numbers show as follows 110 instead
of 110.00 or 197.5 instead of 197.50.

Any suggestions
