Number increase by one in each cell?

Hello,
I need to figure out a "quick" way to increase a "start number" (say in
A2) by 1 each time in the same column. I do not necessary need a count or
sum at the end, but I would like my numbers to increase by one each time: 1,
2, 3, 4, 5. In the same column (A2, A3, A4....etc.). Can anyone help please?

=A1+1
and copy this down

if you copy the formula (or just drag it down): No, as the row index
changes automatically
