Number of Records shown from Filter Mode

Hi,

In excel, I normally have my "autofilter" mode turned on
to select a certain criteria. When I filter on a
criteria using the drop down menu, normally I would see
on the lower left hand corner the number of records found
(i.e. 1 out of 280 records found). However, number of
records found is not always shown. In some cases I
get "filter mode" on the lower left hand corner.

I don't know why "filter mode" instead of the "number of
records" is shown on some worksheets. How do I get my
worksheet to show "number of records shown" when I'm in
filter mode.
