My number pad will not enter numbers into a cell - it only performs
random movement within the worksheet. If i press the num lock key,
the light will not turn on either. any suggestions on how to get my
numbers back? (I have already upgraded to 10.1.5). Thank You!

Try Shift-numlock.

Note that the movement isn't really random: 8,4,6 and 2 act like the
cursor keys, 9 and 3 as page up/down, 1 like the end key, etc...

John,
THANKS!!!!!
Kids too near the computer get me in this mess and you got me out. It
amazes me that doing a search in Excel Help for "number pad" and
"numlock" return NO infomation.

I'd guess that the Help authors thought that it was self-evident. And it
is, after you've looked at it the right way once - on Extended keyboards
at least, the text "numlock" is in the shifted position on the "clear"
key, so the shift key is necessary, just as it's necessary to type the
"&" on the "7" key.

However, in many other applications, that clear/numlock key acts as a
numlock toggle, so one might get used to thinking of it that way, too.
