Add a TextBox with a control source of =1 and set RunningSum to "Over all".

You could also just use =Count(*) in the Report Header or Footer to see the
total count.

To number detail lines, add an unbound control to the detail section.
Set it's control source to
=1
Set it's Running Sum property to Over All

Excuse me if this is a smart answer but the answer to your question is:

"They All Did" is an answer to the question "Which Records?", but it is not
an answer to the question "How Many Records?" which is what the OP asked
for.

Rick,

Lighten up, it was meant as a joke. But by the way, "All" is a quantity and
therefore does answer the question "How Many Records?"

Yeh, right.

Have you ever considered becoming a barrister? They often have to defend
the indefensible and you're an expert.
