Number vs. Autonumber nightmare

Thanks. The suggestion that you and Douglas made worked,
and I was able to copy the table data to another table
with the Autonumber field.

But, I have a couple of tables related to the original
table, and they're related through the ID field. When I
appended the records to the new table, the numbering
changed slightly. Is there a way to automatically change
the ID numbers in the related tables to reflect the new ID
numbers in the new table?
