Generally when you are "restructuring" a document, you need line numbers
that will not change when you move them.
You *can* do this, and if you need it, I will explain how.
But I suspect you will be better off using Outline View. Outline View
enables you to view only the headings in a document. When you select a
heading, you also select the text under that heading as well. You can then
drag both to a different place.
Look up Outline View in the Help.
Before using Outline View, you must run through and format the document with
Heading styles (i.e. You must use the built-in Heading 1 to Heading 9 styles
for all the headings).
When re-structuring a large document, I often insert a fourth and fifth
level of heading (Heading 4 and Heading 5). You can remove them instantly
with a Find/Replace later, but it helps a lot in navigating large slabs of
poorly-structured text
Hope this helps

Can I put numbered lines and turn them off again when completed? This is not
bulleted lines but a way to navigate through a long document that I have to
comb through to set straight.
