Numbered Lists and Cross-References

D

Devin

This is a two-part question

The first problem is that I'd like to create a numbered list with the following format

(1) a. Item One
b. Item One
c. Item One

The second problem is that I'd like to be able to make the cross-reference citation for these items to have the following format

(1a

as in "In example (1a) above, I said that...

Alternative, I'd like to just be able to print 1 and 1a (i.e., without the parentheses)

Doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Maybe the programming guys can add this to their to do list

Thanks

The numbered list can be done by customizing the number style.

The x-ref is done by placing a bookmark in the target para and ref'ing
to the para number using the insert > cross-reference feature.

Word has so many toys stuffed beneath its surface its oft not
surprising you dont know they are already there

Ahh. A bit trickier than your average bear eh?

Define level to be of number format [1] (a)

that is, the 1 is the list level 1 number, and the spaces and the (a)
are hard typed

list level 2 is set to begin at 2 ( (b) ) with spaces preceding.

You'll get close.
