Numbered lists of 10 or more

Maybe I'm from the old school, but we were taught when
numbering a list, if there are 10 or more items, the #10
should be moved to the left one space (or all the others
moved to the right one space) so all the periods line up.
Is there any way to do this automatically in Word?

Yes. Format | Style | Modify | Format | Numbering. Select the pane that
contains your paragraph style and choose Customize. Change the number
position to Right. Word will automatically adjust the "Tab position at" and
"Indent at" settings, but you may want to experiment to fine-tune these. I
prefer to have single-digit numbers flush to the left margin and larger
numbers extending into the margin (since most lists have fewer than 10
members), and I find that setting "Aligned at" to 0.13" and "Indent at" and
"Tab position at" to 0.25" works out right for 12-pt TNR.

Add a right tab where the number appears, then insert a LISTNUM field
as follows: ( LISTNUM LegalDefault \L 1 }. - Bruce
