I am afraid my skill with Word is very basic, so in giving any assistance
please assume you are dealing with someone who isn't very bright!
I would like to number a specification.
At the beginning of the document will be a page of 'contents' which will give
a list of items.
Each item in the contents will have its own number.
The contents page is followed be the specification itself.
In the specification, each item is taken in turn and should have the same
number as in the contents page.
There then follows clauses which are relevant to the item. These few clauses
that apply to each item and they should bear the same main number as the item
but be noted as numbered subdivisions; as follows:
32.0 DOORS
32.1 Doors shall be in timber
32.2 Doors shall be 1981x926mm
32.3 Doors shall be with plain edges
34.0 WINDOWS
34.1 timber casements
34.2 15mm argon filled double glazing
34.3 easyclean hinges
34.5 ironmongery to match existing
38.0 SKIRTINGS and ARCHITRAVES
38.1 etc
Can someone help and explain in easy steps please?
Thank you
Peter
