Numbering and Indentation Changes

I use a company-created template for my documents and have a recurring problem with the Numbering style.

When I move to a new section of my document and want to restart numbering from 1 (versus "continue previous list"), the indentation changes. It is set in the template at Left 0.5", hanging 0.25" and works fine until I "Restart Numbering", when it automatically changes the indentation to Left 1.05",hanging 0.2".

If I hit the template style again, it changes the number back to "Continue Previous List". The only way I've been able to get it to number correctly is to forgo the style, but that's not very practical given I use the template for hundreds of documents each month. Any advice

Have you set up the indents in the numbering scheme, or have you tried to
override that with the paragraph settings on the style? You must use the
numbering scheme to get the settings to stick. For more details, see
