Numbering answer key

P

Patricia Wrean

I am having trouble formatting the answer keys for some exercises
that I put together for my students. The questions are of the
following format:

1. Add the following numbers together.
a) 3+2
b) 5+7
c) 2+4

I would like the answer key to look like:

1. a) 5
b) 12
c) 6

Is there any way to get the 1. and a) on the same line with
Word 97 numbering?

Thanks!
Pat

What about putting the answers in a table, with the 1 in the left most
column and the a, b, c in the second column?

Hi Patricia:

Yes, as Adam says, you could use a table. Or, if you
prefer, you can use a ListNum field for the a):
Press Ctrl+Alt+L or go Insert / Field / ListNum / OK
