Running Word 2003 - Windows XP No automated numbering tools.

I have a custom template that has about 4 numbering schemes in the template.
they are based on a custom styles that based my custom normal. Times Roman 11
and use the Styles is set to be "in use" When we attach the template using
tools/ templates and Addins and Check Automatically Update Styles ( the only
way for me to bring them in) to a blank document all the numbering is
removed. help.

Putting a template in the Startup folder (using it as an Add-In does not
make styles available globally). I have 15 add-in templates; if you think
about it, you'll see why you can't add styles this way.

First, make sure your numbering is solid. This is not simple.
See: How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in your Word
document
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html. (For
bullets see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/bullets/controlbullets.html, the
subject is related.)

This is based on ...

Word's Numbering Explained
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Numbering/WordsNumberingExplained.htm

Now, as to making these styles globally available: See
http://addbalance.com/word/stylesheet.htm.

See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations
including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros,
etc.

Thanks Charles. I have seen most of these. Thanks for the references. But the
template is not in the startup directory and I don't want to use it as a
Add-In. I want to attach a custom template to a blank document to use the
styles. I have been able to do this before and I think maybe the numbering is
the root of the issue. But have you seen where when you attach a word
template with custom styles attach and merge with the existing styles and
remove the numbering.

Sorry, I wasn't reading all the way through and got hung up on your
reference to Templates and Add-Ins.

When my styles are solidly built as described by Shauna Kelly, no, I haven't
seen the problem you note.
