Numbering in styles

If I use numbering in a style, there doesn't appear to be anywhere I can
instruct it to restart number for a new list. So, if I use a style to create
a numbered list, then return to the normal style, type some more text
and invoke the style again, it continues the numbering instead of
starting it over again.

Anyone got a solution for this one?

thanks
Joan

Joan,

I *think* the article here will give you what you want:

Which version of Word do you use?

In both Word 98 and Word X if you use Word's inbuilt numbered list style
you can reset the numbering by checking 'Restart numbering' in Format ->
Bullets and numbering->Numbering.

In Word X this also works with numbered styles you yourself have
defined. In Word 98 this procedures results in a mess if you use it
which user defined styles. In Word 98 if you don't want to use the
inbuilt style a simple solution is to define a new style for each new
list.

I have no experience with Word 2001.
