Numbering paragraph headers: what do I do wrong?

dear all,

Attached a small part of a document showing my problem:
- contains some paragraphs (heading Style: Heading 2)
- add a number with the Home--> numbering buttnn

Problem - best view-e with show hidden formatting symbols on

With this view I see 2 differences between par 1-3 and par 4:
- the spacing between the paragraph and the paragraph header: I want to have it as par's 1-3
- a "formatting char" shown as a little "square" in front of the paragraph-numbers 1-3, but missing for par. 4.

Question: what do I do wrong?
