numbering text boxes?

Is there a way to number text boxes in a document? I'm trying to create
coupons that I can number, putting 3 to a page, so I'd need to number the
text boxes rather than the pages.

You could always number the coupons manually.

Are you talking about your physical printer or an outside printing company?
