Numbering vertical Japanese text

I'm trying to use arabic numerals, 1,2,3, etc to number scenes in a
Japanese movie script. It's vertical text and whenever I change to
the arabic numerals from the Japanese the numerals go horizontal.
What do I do to get them to be vertical like the rest of the text?

Heigo-san:

Place them in either a text box or a table cell. Then you can rotate them
using the "Text Direction" controls -- look these up in the help.
