numbers not correct

Chicken Dogs

When I try to add numbers to a cell, they are converted to a date. How can I
correct this? I have the "general" numbers tab selected. (Excel 2007)

Think you could either precede the entry with an apostrophe ('), or
pre-format the data entry col as text.
