O/L 2007 deleting valid e-mails

N

nosirrah

"all of a sudden" (after an update?) my Outlook 2007 has been sending inward
emails apparently at random to 'Deleted' rather than Inbox. In some cases
EVEN IF it's from a trusted address or if it's a reply to an e-mail I've
sent. I can trace no pattern as to why it does so. Junk Mail filter works
100% correctly, however, and Junk ends up in the right place.

Any cure?? Previous thread was inconclusive.

TIA

Outlook shouldn't delete messages without your explicit configuration.
If you find this is happening, look to add-ins first, like integrate
antivirus scanners or rules. See if the same thing happens when Outloo
is running in safe mode (hold Ctrl when you start it). If not, the
it's definitely an add-in

.Thx Brian. I use McAfee which, of course, has its own updating regime and regime of integration. I had made no conscious change to my Outlook 2007 setup whatsoever (I wouldn't know how to find an add-in, even if I wanted to!! Well, not quite, but you get the drift). Question is - is this a systemic problem which ought to be drawn to MS's attention??

I believe it to be a factor external to Outlook. McAfee's ability t
integrate properly with Outlook is frequently suspect. Did you try saf
mode, as I said? Did you see if you have rules that might be causin
it? Unless you actually try to suggestions people offer, you'll neve
solve the problem

.Thx again... but steady on for a moment... I've got to open Outlook multiple times both remembering to press ctrl AND with sufficient new e-mails received to get a valid outcome!! HOWEVER. How can I tell if I've got any inadvertanlty (or automatically) added 'plugins' please? Installation is Win7 (upgraded Vista), and OL2007 help cannot find "plugins".

Safe Mode did NOT prevent this from happening. So I checked my list of rules as a consequence. There were rules there which I don't recall making!! However, there was an incomplete rule - presumably a finger-trouble carriage return from the prompts in the rule-making procedure while setting up another rule - which merely cause emails 'to me only' to be deleted.... and the e-mail which had been sent to the deleted box under safe mode had, indeed, not had any copy-addressees!! Red face all round - but a solution to note, Brian. Thx

I'm glad you got it sorted
