First English is not my native language so forgive me any typing errors.
I have seen this problem popping up on this forum often but have not
found a solution for it.
First the Outlook version = 11.8217.8221 (Sp3) with all updates
installed.
It is the English version with a muipack installed.
When I try to send mail from Word As Attachment a get the error Mapi
failure "unspecified error"
I get a different message in Excel and that is: General Mail Failure in
Powerpoint it says There was a general failure with the e-mail system...
I have the problem on several systems even on a fresh clone where the
other 3 identical installations do not have any problem.
So it happened in a week.
It is not a user/mail profile problem because I tried different users
on the same machine with the same result.
Al the Mapi settings in the registry are correct.
I did un complete uninstall with cc cleaner and checked for any
leftover files but that did not work. (I also threw away the Office reg
key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office)
I checked other registry settings with a working pc and they are
identical (messaging subsystem and Office key).
I can send mail for review (it adds the file as attachment) without any
problems, I can also send a file as attachment in non Office
Applications like Adobe.
It is not exchange mail account but a pop3 on 2 of the clients so that
is not the issue.
I copied the mapi files from a working pc and that did not help.
Even tried copying the whole 1033 and 1043 folder to no avail.
I tried fixmapi after renaming, but then the mapi files in the 1033 and
1043 where not created so maybe this is an issue.
Only in the %systemroot%\system32 was recreated.
regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\system32\ole32.dll did not work
If I use Windows (Live) mail (that is the newer version of OE) as
default handler it works when I switch back to Outlook 03 it stops
working same error.
sfc /scannow did not work.
I am at the end of my knowledge and would probably reinstall the whole
computer where it not that I have 5 with the "same" problem.
I due hope that somebody here can help me.
