o2ksr1a update fails

I have recently upgraded my computer to xp from win98se, having done a clean install from a re-formatted hard drive. I have re-installed office 2000 but when i do office update, it says i have to install o2ksr1a. i download and ran the upgrade but when i try to install it says "MS office 2000 sr-1 update did not complete successfully. For assistance contact MS tech support.
Any ideas? Dave
