I have users that exist in E55. They added users into their contacts
folder sometime previously in the past. So an example of the contact:
Smith, John (ABC Corp). This is what shows up in the contact email
address field. Currently, that custom rec. in E55 has a display name
of: Smith, John (QQQ Corp). The user from their original Outlook
session can still send email to the Smith, John (ABC Corp), but I
cannot use that contact from a new machine.
The reason this issue came to light, was during our migration to
Exchange 2000, we exported and imported the contacts. Now we get the
error message: The Name or distribution list has been deleted and is
no longer a valid Address Book entry. The item could not be found.
This error message also comes up on the E55 mailbox, when I connect to
it using a new mail profile, but not with the old. I found some
technet articles that talk about needing Outlook 2000 SP3 to fix the
issue, but I am already running this.
So I am guessing that the OAB for the specific profile has some
connection to the current user via the old display name and successful
mailings to the user prior to the display name being changed. Now that
we migrated them into E2K, the display name only works when the contact
in the mailbox and the AD contact match. I tested this by changing
Smith, John to end in (QQQ Corp) and the resolution worked.
Any ideas on exactly why this happens? Thanks!
