"Object invalid or no longer set."

Hi,

I'm using DoCmd.TransferText to export some data into a
textfile (which has the extension .txt). This worked fine
for a long time, but now an existing application reports
the error "Object invalid or no longer set." when
executing DoCmd.TransferText.

The database is Access 97 (Office 97SR2b), OS is Windows
XP with all recent security updates, JET SP3 is installed.

Any hints?
