objects size incorrectly when zooming in and out

Hi

I seem to be having a problem with Visio in that if I create an rectangle 4
squares by 2 squares at 200% zoom and then zoom in to 400% the image doesnt
correctly readjust to 8x4 squares - it actually appears to be larger 10x5 -
this is causing problems when you add additional connection points to the
shapes as you loose perspective and lines dont align properly. I should point
out that I am using milimetres and havent tested to see it it still works
fine in inches (I live in Australia and the regional settings are controlled
by my system administrator).

Visio uses a dynamic grid that does not maintain constant spacing when you
change zoom levels. Its not just that some grid lines get hidden when you
zoom out. The lines are actually redistributed on a different spacing
multiple. The simplest way to change this is to go into Tools > Ruler &
Grid and set the grid spacing to Fixed.

Thanks Mark that worked perfectly

Ok,
I agree with everything that has been said in this thread. The first post
hit the problem on the head and I even agree the "solution" offered. However
it does not technically fix the problem. I have been running Visio for many
years. I had Visio 202 without SR-1 installed. I upgraded to 2003 and the
new implimnetation of the dynamic grid forced me to revert back to the 2002
version. At that point upgraded to SR-1 and the 2003 dynamic grid "problem"
was back. After removal of the service pack all is back to normal.

In 2002 (non-SR1) and earlier versions the dynamic grid actually does what
you want. Everything remains aligned to a grid no matter the zoom level.
The grid changes between light and dark grays to show relative zoom levels.

Something has changed between 2002 pre SR-1 and SR-1 that continues to be
there today. Is there a way to revert back to the 2002 pre SR-1 grid
functionality? Currently I am stuck at version 2002 because it bothers me so
badly and can't get work done. And can supply screenshots as eamples if
needed.

Once I point this out to people they tend to revert back as well. The fixed
grid solution just does not work well. The fixed grid does not easily allow
you to go between high and low zoom levels (grid is either too big or too
small). And lets face it the fixed grid is not as easy on the eyes.

I am not able to even identify why the new dynamic grid is a useful feature.
Everthing you align to one grid is now off grid when you change the zoom to
a non-integer multiple. Any suggestions?
