Hi,
I replaced my WinXP computer with a new Vista box. The XP box was running
an anti-virus that does not work with Vista, and I bought a different anti
virus for Vista. I have copied my Outlook 2007's .pst file from the old
hard drive to the new hard drive (in
C:\users\name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook). Before I ever started
Outlook 2007 on the new box, I used the "Mail" control panel to create a
profile pointing to the copied .pst file and set it as the default mail
file. On the first start Outlook opened the folders just fine, and I was
able to send mail. However, every time I start Outlook, I get this error
popping up:
The Add-in "Exchange Scan" (C:\Program Files\Network
Associates\VirusScan\scanemail.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled
by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in manufacuturer for an update. If no
update is available, please uninstall the Add-in.
However, I never installed the McAfee VirusScan (by Network Associates) on
my new computer, and, thus, I can't uninstall it to uninstall the Add-in.
It seems that the only way my new computer could possible know about
scanmail.dll is from a reference embedded in my .pst file.
Does anyone know how to safely remove such a reference from a .pst file?
