Occurrences of a given word?

Is there a method in Word 2000 of showing *the number of times* a given word
is found (under Find, or elsewhere)?

Use replace to search for the word - replace it with ^& (the found word) and
the number of replacements is the number of occurrences.

In Word 2002 and above, it's even easier--no "replacement" required. There's
a check box in the Find dialog to "Highlight all items found." When you Find
All, Word tells you how many were found (and they are selected).

Yes. Thanks. But I have my faithful Word 2000, which lots of people here
have helped me to use much more effectively. I tried Graham's solution
(after being certain TRK was off (or the edits look like a nonsense) and it
worked, of course.

Like someone else who posted on here, I am keeping all these valuable
solutions in a ring-binder.
