OCR and language pack

Office 2007, English version. English, French and Spanish are embedded languages. I bought and
installed the Italian Language Pack. Now Italian is selectable for spelling in Word and Excel and
that is fine, but using OCR it is not selectable/usable. Should I select it as default in Word and
then select "default office language settings" in OCR, it shows "Unable to perform OCR in Italian -
Please change your OCR language setting to an available OCR language".

Any suggestions?

The language Pack does not allow you to that. If you want to use Italian with OCR
then you need to purchase the Italian version of Office

And if i need BOTH Italian and English, what should I do? In addition, all the Microsoft stuff I
read says exactly the opposite of what you say. What is the source of the information you gave me?

You need both then. The language pack does not change your Office version into the
language you select. It only lets you read\write and some minor other things.
My source is the explanation that comes with the language Pack from MS

This from MSDN:
"To support Non-English languages in OCR, you need to install the corresponding Language Pack."

Please, read:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vblanguage/thread/a9c81d92-b044-485a-8cc9-59a5b9862236

And:

What you say, is ABSURD! It is NOT possible to install TWO Winword on the same PC! Do you suggest to
have one PC for every language I need to OCR? How do you explain regular Office can OCR English,
Spanish and French?

If you have no answer, please avoid to give false informations!

Yes I have read them before. I suggest that you read them very comprehensively so as
you will understand.

I am not telling you to install 2 different language versions. I am telling you that
you cannot have another language version of Office that is completely in the other
language version. The language pack only lets you write, read and not be like
another language version of Office completely.

And Yes, you can have more than one version of Office installed. I have 3 on mine.

I hate when people who don't know how to do something say "it CANNOT be done", instead of "I don't
know how to do that". Youa are a typical case: with your behavior, someone can think one thing
cannot be done, even if the specifications of the product say the opposite!

I BOUGHT and PAID Microsoft Office: no pirate copy! So I am entitled to contact Microsoft Support
and ask for help. I was not confident a so huge company would answer to me, but they did, in less
than 12 hours!

I applied the suggestion from them, and - AS DESIGNED - it works perfectly!
If you dont' believe me, plese look at: http://www.rescas.eu/listing/download/public/languages.jpg
I got also "German" that I really don't neeed! I don't know why.
