OCR not working

When I first installed OneNote, OCR was working fine...but it doesn't work
now. I don't know what caused it, it could have been anything, cause its been
a long time, and I had also upgraded to SP2. When I take a screen clipping
and then try to copy all text from it and paste it somewhere, nothing comes
up. But surprisingly, when I try the same thing on the sample image (Contoso)
it works! The text that I'm trying to copy is perfectly clear, it should be
easily OCR'able.

Can you check Tools | Options | Other? there is a setting there to disable
text recognition in pictures - did that get turned off?

You can also toggle how quickly the text recognition code runs here - change
the setting for the battery to "maximum performance" and the OCR routine will
run more quickly.

Since it is a potentially time consuming (and hard drive intensive) process,
there is usually a delay between the time of the image pasting the time the
OCR "kicks in."

No, it was not disabled. I tried disabling it and re-enabling it but to no
avail.
I changed the setting to maximum performance. Still not working.

Any difference when you change the language for the recognition in the
right-mouse context menu?

Nope. Still no text at all.

Whenever I click "Copy text from image" and then paste it somewhere, nothing
gets pasted, but the little paste icon comes up in the bottom-right of the
page. Its like something pasted, but its invisible.
^^ This is not something that started happening after I changed the language.

Really strange.

At times changing the language for recognition to some other language
and then back improves the recognition.

As this seems to be without any positive effect, I'd recommend to run a
Repair of OneNote from "Add and Remove Software" from the Control Panel.
Should this not help, only an uninstall and re-install might help.

I just zoomed the text that you wrote in your post, took a screen clipping
and put it in my notebook. I clicked copy text from image...now I'll leave it
overnight and report back :D
