How can I programmatically change the ODBC connect string for a pass through
query?

One option using DAO...
********************

Dim MyDB as Database
Dim MyQryDef As QueryDef

Set MyDB = CurrentDB
Set MyQryDef = MyDB.QueryDefs("YourQueryName")
MyQryDef.Connect = "Your new Connect String"
MyQryDef.Close
Set MyQryDef = Nothing
Set MyDB = Nothing
