ODBC Connect wizard does not open

Samantha

I am converting an MsAccess database into MySQL for the backend and still
keep the Access frontend. I have done this before and it worked great. But
for some reason, when I go to File \ Get External Data \ Linked Tables , the
wizard does not open for me to select a table to link to. I have done this
many times before for both MySQL and MsSQL. I'm not sure whether it was
because I have a new computer lately, and there are some settings or
applications missing on the new computer?

Also, someone else mentioned about disabling Norton AntiVirus and it would
work. But I do not have Norton AntiVirus. What could it be?

Any pointers are very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

If your new computer is a Vista machine, you may not have sufficient
permissions in your current login account to be able to connect to a SQL
database. If that's the case, try running as an administrator, or have an
administrator give you sufficient permissions.

Hello Samantha,

You state that this is a new machine. Did you verify that you have
functional MDAC components and an ODBC Data Source Name that allows you
to connect to MySQL?
