ODBC data Source

Can someone please help me with this. When I tried to use
ODBC to link Visual FoxPro Tables to my Access2K database,
I had to choose between Machine Data Source and File Data
Source. When I did the link using Machine Data Source, I
had no problem. When I tried File Data Source, I got an
error message.
My question: What is the difference between Machine Data
Source and File Data Source and why I got an error message
when I tried to use File Data Source.

Please advise. Thanks a million.
