ODBC Help

I have tables and queries that reside on a sql server with an odbc connection
to Access 2003. When I need to open one of those tables or queries, I log in.
I now have a bunch of forms and reports based on those tables and queries
that I want users to be able to use but I do not want them to be able to log
into the server. I would like that to be automated. I looked at dns and other
methods but I don't know what I'm doing. Help Thanks!!!

Not sure I understand your question, but I use SQL server only for the back
end tables, link to them by "get external data" in Access (via link, not
import) which then shows icons for the linked tables in Access. Build
queries and everything in Access from those. So users deal only in Access,
never the SQL server.

I just thought it would be easier than linking 70 or 80 tables to have a
direct connection to the server that the users don't have to log into - it is
automated, but they don't see the tables or queries, just the forms and
reports in Access on their computers. I have heard of some people using DNS
for that but I don't know how to set it up. Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking.....if I'm any indicator, you might
want to repost with more clarifications such as:

In each case of referrng to "access to" and "loggin in to" clarify whether
you mean this to the local PC, the server PC, the network (if admionistered
that way) , user level control in the SQL server, or user level control in
Access.

Not sure if I'm a set ahead or behind on the the dns server, but that
relates to network addressing / administration rather than specific to
databases.

If not helpful, please ignore.
