Odd Drop Down Box Behavior

I have a drop down box on a spreadsheet in a workbook with several
spreadsheets. For some reason the contents of the drop down box is beeing
bled through to other spreadsheets in the exact same cell reference that the
drop down box is linked to, replacing what may be in that cell. It happens
randomly yet often, and I have not been able to discern any patterrn or
catalyst. The contents and cell formatting are being transfered. It also
happens on other spreadsheets using the drop down box. This is an Active-X
box, not a forms box, using Excel 2007.

Anybody seen this?

There were a couple of Windows Updates on November 10th, 2009 that caused
these visual problems.

KB973593 for 2007 and KB973475 for 2003

I believe there have been patches issued for these.

I simply uninstalled these updates so have not bothered to look for patches.

But I have seen this from Peter Thornton..............

978522 Description of the Office Excel 2007 hotfix package
(Excel-x-none.msp, Xlconv-x-none.msp): December 23, 2009

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;978522

I have to say the KB numbering and titles are extremely confusing, it's not
immediately apparent that this relates to KB973593. But the connection is
"MS09-067".

I found the hotfix, thanks. My problem has been around a lot longer than last
November so I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

Squeaky.

Ok,

I added the patch and almost immediately I was not able to share a
worksheet. I got the error "This worksheet is not shared" and the icon for
sharing became disabled until I restarted Excel. I removed the patch (978522)
and all is back to how it was before.

First of all I think you have a typo.

You cannot share a worksheet.............did you mean workbook?

Second of all I have not installed the hotfix so do not know what could
occur.

I simply uninstalled the two updates the day after they were offered so have
no problems with Excel.
