odd error msg when trying to delete in outlook '07/win7 rc7100

since recent Office updates and Office '07 SP2 [7/15] on my clean install of
RC7100, I am no longer able to delete messages that are marked as unread with
the mail item showing in the reading pane. I get the following error msg:
*Some items cannot be deleted. They were either moved or already deleted or
access was denied.* when I click on Show Help>> it is telling me that the
error may be the result of trying to delete more than 4,000 messages at one
time. and goes on about permissions - which I have full Admin permissions,
and have checked that this is indeed the case on the .pst file itself.

when not using the reading pane, I am able to delete unread mail without
getting the error message.

if I leave a message, which marks it as read, and go back to delete, using
the reading pane, I am able to delete.

changing the mark as read setting to 1 second when using the reading pane
results in the same error message, but when I leave that mail item to go to
another, the item does get marked for deletion and disappears as I have my
view set to hide items marked as such.

7|23: have also noticde that mail items I reply to are not marked as such
with the little arrow in the sort by column. have run Office Diagnostics,
with no result of note.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried opening Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch?

Start > Run > outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Not sure in Windows 7 what Run is called. I haven't used Windows 7 just yet.

thank you for the reply. run is run in win7. can't live without it.

that seems to have fixed the missing reply arrow, but am still getting that
odd message when attempting to delete.
