I need to do odd numbering in Office 2008 such as:

1) Sample Text

3) Sample Text

5) Sample Text

If there is no way to do this in 2008, the program is useless to me.

I can think of four ways of doing that in Word 2008.

But I need to know what it is that you are numbering. "Text" is not close
enough. What kind of text? Paragraphs? Text Boxes? Captions? Text in
tables? And I need to know what you are going to use the text for when you
have finished: PDF? Web? Document? Paper?

I am not going to sit here and type out 20 pages of text -- I need you to
help me to help you by giving me lots and lots of detail. If you want to
keep up the uninformative one-liners, that's fine. But I am not going to be
able to help you if you do :)

Cheers

The text will be in paragraphs and will be for a document. Thank you for your time.

The simplest way to do this is to format the Even Numbered paragraphs as
"Hidden".

1) Place a blank paragraph between each of your numbered paragraphs.

2) Number the whole series as you normally would.

3) Then go back and format the font of each alternate paragraph to
"Hidden".

The paragraph will remain in the document to increment the number, but will
not print.

Cheers

No.

It's only requested once or twice a year (out of 900,000,000 users...) and
there are four or five methods for doing it, all of them easy enough with a
little practice.

Will Microsoft make it easier to do odd/even numbering in the future?
