I need odd/even numbering for some of the work I do. By odd/even numbering I mean

1)

3)

Word 2004 let me skirt this problem, but in Word 2008 I can only get consecutive numbering. Help!

The same technique you used in 2004 will work in 2008.

But I need to know what you are numbering.

Where are you putting the numbers?

I am trying to find out what kind of numbering you are using. I can't
answer you until I have enough information.
