Odd Front Page Error Problem

I recently installed an additional 2 gb of memory which had the effect of
causing my computer to lock up and freeze. To recover I'd soft boot which
seemed to cause problem with FP, or IIS, or both.
When I start my browser now (whose home page is a sharepoint team services
web running locally) I will get the following error;
FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.


Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details.

The interesting thing is that if I start the default page through the
SharePoint Administrator it starts fine, but if I start it directly from IE
I get the error message. So I guess the question is what could have been
corrupted by the soft boot to casue FP to return this error?Is it really a
FP error? I only post it here because the error messave says FP, but I
recognize that it could be something entirely differnt all together.

As an addendum to this problem, it only happens with IE! It does not happen
with Netscape!
