Odd Page Setup, margins error

Getting error message when do Page Setup. Using WordXP on WinXP-pro PC,
with standard HP LaserJet 4050, with an HP OEM driver.

Error occurs when start Word normally and it comes up with a blank sheet.
Here's what happens... When I try to set the top margin to say 0.5", it
comes back with an error... "One or more margins are set outside printable
error... FIX or IGNORE." I press ignore, it works ok. (If press FIX, it
sets the bottom margin to 2.67 inches. ???)

Error does not occur if I close documents and Word has a grey screen, then I
do File > New > blank document

Doesn't seem like it's the driver, seems more like a Word or Normal.dot
problem. Would appreciate suggestions on how to fix.

Thank you to the poster who emailed that HP has some new (beta) drivers that
seem to refer to the Word margins problem. One last question before I
install the new driver....

Downloaded the driver, went to that WinXP add driver section, and got just
past the "have disk" part. The next window referenced the unsigned file and
driver name, let's say "HP 4050 PCL 6" ...but the old drive already
installed has this exact same name. So I canceled for now...

Question is...will it recognize the same name and give a chance for me to
give the new installation a new name like "HP 4050 New Driver" or does it
stick with the name it has and wipe out the old driver?

If so, and if the new driver doesn't work at all (it's a beta), would I just
re-install the original driver to get back to where I was... Or is in
uninstall (delete?) the beta driver first? Thanks

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that, but you might find someone who
does if you post in the microsoft.public.word.printingfonts NG.
