Odd Problem

Recently my Word 2000 developed a problem where it appears
it is constantly (ever 3 seconds or so) autosaving. The
drive is active, I see the hourglass, but nothing is being
saved that I can tell. I've checked the usual settings in
Word and nothing seems incorrect. Oddly enough, this only
seems to happen with certain documents (most of the ones
that I deal with). It's made Word very difficult to use
since I can't do anything on the screeen while the
hourglass is displayed. HELP!!!
