odd trouble uploading

I have a very large website (www.carm.org), with more than
50,000 internal links, hundreds of pages, etc. Been
developing it for about 7 years with FP. I am using FP2003

Lately, when I go to upload from my hard drive after
modifications, additions, etc, I usually get a time out
message on the first try. I wait, same thing... wait,
then it works... or wait for longer and it does work or
doesn't.

Its annoying and inconsistent.

I've had to log in directly to the site using FP and it
works fine. But working directly online is too slow since
I do a LOT of writing and repeatedly save documents, etc.

Any idea what might be going on?

Should I wipe the site from the server and reload it
fresh? Are the extensions hiccuping? Anyone have any
ideas?

thanks.

The sites I work on are so large each one is a separate web for each large
folder but all published to the same live website on the web.

This speeds up publishing as FP only reads the pages on my HD site and it is
much smaller than the entire website.

I was thinking of doing that but want to avoid the multi-
FP thing. It may be necessary, tho. Thanks...

btw, have you had the same problems?

I'm thinking of reloading the whole site which is over 300
megs... that would take a day!

That may not solve your timeout issue w/ a 300 MB site
- definitely break it into subwebs
- or consider converting it to a DB solution

It turns out the Log files on the server were maxed out
and finally topped out. They were deleted and then the
system worked fine after that.

there ya go.
