OE 2003 and MODUS webmail

Over the last month or two, i have had a few complaints about webmail
and MS Outlook being used together. Seems that if a person checks
his/her mail via webmail, then later signs on to download their email
via Outlook, the messages do not download. This seems to be only with
Outlook 2003, not sure if it is happening with any other versions. I
did try to duplicate the error myself, but was not able too. I was
using the 30 day trial and that may have something to do with it. I was
not able to duplicate it in Outlook 2000. I have also been through the
options in outlook to see if there is a setting that may be causing
this, but was unsuccessful. Does Modus mark the messages viewed when
someone checks via webmail, even if they do not read the messages? And
if so, can we turn that option off?

So far the messages stayed on the server, allowing the user to read them
via webmail. But today, the caller said the messages were cleared from
the server and not downloaded. She did read the messages before she
tried to download them, which may had something to do with outlook
clearing them from the server. They where marked "read" and not just
"viewed".) I will be reading through the modus mail help files over the
next few days to see if I can find something in there that will solve
this problem. But if someone already knows a solution, please send it
to me so i can get it out to the customers.

This is anomalous because the state of having been read by web is generally
not available to any POP client. I had an ISP that used a version of
Mailman for the web reader and that version actually moved the messages from
the mailbox to another location on the server so that the messages weren't
available for download. That configuration didn't last long.

If it happens with any POP client, it will happen with all.

Even if it does, it's information that cannot be transmitted to the POP
client. The only thing that I can think of that would prevent downloading
by a POP client would be the physical removal of the messages from the
mailbox.
