OE removal of attachments

Over the past few months, almost every third attachment I
receive from a friend is deleted; a yellow band at the top
of the page says: "OE has removed the following unsafe
attachments..." Now these same attachments have been
opened by others with no adverse (virus) effect. How do I
get my progam to stop this unwanted removals?

Secondly, often when I open up in the morning - at any
time really - I have doubles of almost all my e-mails. By
opening one or deleting it, the second usually also is
deleted. What causes these doubles, and how do I rid
myself of them?
