OE Updates shouldn't result in having to pay for unwanted service

Sad Outlook

In January 2006 I downloaded an Outlook Express Update recommended by
Microsoft, after which I could no longer link to OE links (such as replying
to Contact Us links via OE). After trying to resolve this with Microsoft
Support, I discovered that because my Hotmail account is a free one, I am no
longer allowed access to OE through Hotmail. It appears that the upgrade
download (recommended by Microsoft) was actually intended to force me to pay
a fee for using OE.

Having been unsuccessful in trying to restore my previous level of service
with OE through Microsoft, I have since discovered that I can send Outlook
Express messages via my FREE Yahoo account.

I would now like to register a complaint about Microsoft's sneaky ways of
trying to get me to subscribe to extra services that I don't need or use, but
it appears that trying to register complaints is difficult as well - this
forum seems to be the closest thing to a customer complaint venue.

They're not making you pay a fee for using Outlook Express. They're making
you pay for using Hotmail, as is their right. This change was announced in
September of 2004 so it's not like you haven't had ample time to prepare.
Either use the web interface, which continues to work as before, or go set
yourself up a gmail account, which works with Outlook Express just fine.
