Ok, so my mom purchased Office Professional 2007 for students and faculty
from onthehub.com (basically a place where students/college faculty can get
discounted microsoft and adobe software) and I was wondering if I could
install it and also be able to have my mom install it without any problems
(like activation problems)? Please don't direct me to the EULA if you don't
mind.

Office Professional Plus Student Select, any license, can be installed onto
one computer with a second portable device for exclusive use of the primary
user of the first computer. If you paid $66.40 for it this is what you got.
So you can not do what you want in reference to Mom's installation. This is
all in your EULA and that is the restrictions you purchased the program's
license with.

Now, if this was Home and Student version of Office 2007 (that would not be
the professional version and won't have Outlook) then it can be installed
onto three computers within the same household. This isn't available
through the Student Select program. Amazon sells it currently for $79.99
with free shipping.


From Microsoft's web site for Student Select:

Academic Users Only. Fully featured version, available through the Microsoft
Student Select program. This product allows for personal use (and the
license will never expire). You must be a student, faculty or staff member
of a participating academic institution to qualify for purchase.

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 is a complete suite of productivity
and database software that will help you save time and stay organized.
Create dynamic business documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, and
build databases with no prior experience or technical staff.

Obviously someone qualified for the purchase and has an .edu email address
or can verify qualification through the educational program. Please don't
help screw it up for others by using the license you have improperly.

Actually, we both have .edu's from the same institution. She bought it and
knowing this I won't install it to my computer.

I don't understand what you mean, but anyway this topic can be locked.

The straight forward answer is YES you will be able to install it on your mum's
Pc/Laptop and you too will be able to install it on your own PC/Laptop. Now
this is purely from the technical point of view.

You didn't want to know about EULA but EULA states that:

"Licensed Device. You may install one copy of the software on three
licensed devices in your household for use by people who reside there.
The software is not licensed for use in any commercial, non-profit, or
revenue-generating business activities."

Therefore, if you are not residing with your mom then clearly you you can't
legally install it on three different systems. However, rules are rules and
they are made to be broken! otherwise there is no point in having rules!!
