how do I find the # of Kilobytes in a given Word document?

Look in the Finder.

Now: How about you tell us what you REALLY want to know? The number of
kilobytes in a given Word document is almost entirely meaningless...

So: What are you trying to do? We can probably suggest a much more
appropriate measurement...

Look in the Finder.

And if it says whatever megabytes, take that number and multiply by 1024 to
get kilobytes.
