You don't need an off-page reference then, that shape is designed to
link (both ways) to a shape on another page.
You just want a hyperlink, any shape can do this, select the shape
then menu Insert -> Hyperlinks and select your document.
generally you have to right-click and select the hyperlink, however,
you could write a macro that is run when the shape is double-clicked,
this macro could then open the hyperlink.
