Off97 Mail Merge in OffXP

Mail Merge created in Word 97/Excel 97 won't work in Word
2002/Excel 2002. Any numerical fields end up as
XX.X0000001 instead of XX.XX. Are there any conversion
utilities for old mail merges to make them work in newer
versions of Office, or do they just have to be recreated?
